How it works

How to use the poker odds calculator

  1. 1

    Pick the hands

Press an empty spot for a player, then choose a card from the deck. Do the same for every player, up to six.

  2. 2

    Add the board

If the flop, turn or river are out, add those cards too. Leave the board empty for the odds before the flop.

  3. 3

    Read the odds

Each player's chance to win and to split the pot updates straight away. Press a card twice to clear it.

Outs: your chance of hitting a draw

Outs are the cards left in the deck that complete your hand. On the flop you can see five cards, your two and the board, so 47 are left to come. The more of them help you, the better your chance.

Quick maths

The rule of 2 and 4

A quick way to estimate your odds at the table. On the flop, multiply your outs by 4 to get your chance of hitting by the river. On the turn, multiply by 2 for the river alone. A flush draw has 9 outs, so 9 times 4 gives about 36%. The exact figure is 35.0%.

  • On the flopOuts × 4
  • On the turnOuts × 2

FAQ

Common questions

Is the poker odds calculator free?

Yes. It runs in your browser, with no sign-up and nothing to download.

How accurate are the numbers?

Before the flop the calculator deals 20,000 random boards, so the numbers can move by a few tenths of a percent. From the flop on it counts every possible board, so the numbers are exact.

What are pot odds?

Pot odds compare the size of the pot with the bet you have to call. If you must call $10 to win a $40 pot, you are risking $10 to win $40, so you need to win at least one time in five (20%) for the call to pay off. Compare that with your chance of hitting your draw.

What is equity?

Equity is your share of the pot if the hand were played out many times. A hand that wins 60% of the time and never ties has 60% equity.

Which hand wins at showdown?

The best five-card hand. See the full order on our poker hand rankings page.

Does it work for Omaha?

It is built for Texas Hold’em, where each player has two cards. In Omaha each player gets four cards and must use exactly two of them, so the odds come out differently. See how that works in our Omaha poker rules.
